Marta Roncon, BA (Psych), MSc (ABA), BCBA
I am a Behaviour Therapist with over 10 years experience counselling individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. I hold a Masters of Science degree in Applied Behaviour Analysis and I am a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA).
I work with clients of all ages, from children to adults, as well as with clients of all capabilities. I have a special interest in working with youth and adults diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Sessions can be individual, involve the family or in a group format. I always work from a bio-psycho-social framework to get a full understanding of the client as a whole.
As a counsellor my goal is to reduce maladaptive behaviours that you seek to change and are interfering with your ability to have a fulfilling life. From a behavioural perspective, change occurs when these behaviours are replaced with new, more functional ones. My goal is to provide you with the right tools and strategies to accomplish this. I also aim to teach you how to implement these strategies so that change is maintained long after our therapy sessions have ended.
During our first meetings we will assess the issue that brought you here. This means trying to better identify what is maintaining the behaviour you seek to change. Behaviour therapy sessions are a collaborative process and you will be an involved participant throughout it. I will provide you with a safe, calm and confidential environment where we can build a therapeutic alliance and make lasting changes that will improve the quality of your life.
What I can help you with:
Skill building (e.g., teaching social skills, teaching 'the hidden curriculum', teaching independent living skills)
Resolving family conflict
Reducing behaviours related to anxiety
Reducing destructive or maladaptive behaviours
